Sutter Amador Hospital's (SAH) Emergency Department is open 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week. It is staffed by a team of dedicated emergency physicians, experienced nurses and other specially trained medical professionals. Patients of the Emergency Department benefit from the use of an electronic health record (EHR) that allows physicians and nurses to spend less time on paperwork and more time with patients. The hospital's heliport ensures that patients can be brought in from remote areas or transferred out quickly for specialty care.

Emergency patients are treated in the order of the seriousness of their condition. Patients with less serious conditions, but still requiring immediate attention can choose the Fast Track program. The program is designed to provide quick, convenient and quality treatment during peak hours to non-emergency patients.
