Critical Care Unit With eICU
A 6-bed critical care unit provides onsite, around-the-clock care for critically injured and ill patients. The effectiveness of this local care is significantly enhanced through Sutter Health's electronic intensive care unit (eICU). Sutter Health is the first health care system in the western United States to implement this technology that enables highly qualified critical care physicians and nurses to examine, diagnose and monitor ICU patients in real time from a remote location.
Independent studies indicate that the involvement of a physician specializing in critical care increases the probability of surviving life-threatening episodes.
Critical Care Visitor Information
Visitors are allowed 24-hours a day except as noted:
- Please NO visitors or phone calls between 6 and 7 a.m. and 6 and 7 p.m.
- Please request admission to the unit prior to entering by using the telephone outside the door.
- The number of visitors and length of the visit may be determined by the physician and staff caring for the patient. In some instances, only five minutes per hour will be allowed for visiting.
- Department staff will, at all times, have the right to ask a visitor to leave or refuse a visitor access during emergency conditions.
- Children under the age of 16 may be admitted if free from infection, accompanied by an adult, and psychologically and emotionally mature enough not to disrupt the environment.
- Please instruct friends to call a designated family member to receive patient condition updates. This will reduce the number of calls that will take the nurse away from patient care.
