Community Benefit
Our mission is to improve the health and well being of the residents of the communities we serve by providing coordinated, effective, affordable and accessible health services in response to specific community needs.
Charity Care
Through sponsorships, charity care and programs Sutter Amador Hospital, contributes millions of dollars back into our community each year.
- 2007 – SAH provided $3.8 million in Community Benefit or 6% of our Net Patient Revenue.
- 2006 – SAH provided $1.9 million in Community Benefit or 4% of our Net Patient Revenue
- 2005 – SAH provided $3 million in Community Benefit or 6% of our Net Patient Revenue
- 2003 – SAH provided $11.2 million in Community Benefit or 25% of our Net Patient Revenue.
- 2002 – SAH provided $8.9 million in Community Benefit or 19% of our Net Patient Revenue
- 2001 – SAH provided $7.9 million in Community Benefit or 18% of our Net Patient Revenue
Educational Support
To further assist its community, SAH has formed a Speaker's Bureau to provide local clubs and organizations with guest speakers from the hospital free of charge. Guest speakers have an expertise is a variety of topics such as first aid, diabetes, cholesterol, respiratory health, rabies, CPR and more.
On occasion, SAH provides a series of educational articles to the local paper and local radio station. The articles, written by health care experts, educate the community about various health topics.
Various classes are also offered, such as Better Breathers, Child Birth Education, Diabetes Education and Safe Sitters.
Board Participation
Employees of Sutter Amador Hospital support their community by participating on governing boards for local service organizations including Safe Kids - Amador/Calaveras, Hospice and Friends of Hospice, the American Cancer Society, Gold Country Health and Wellness, American Diabetes Association and others.
Health and Fitness Festival
Sponsored by Sutter Amador Hospital, the Health & Fitness Festival provides health screenings and free information for the community.
